About us

As people within a LGBTQIA+ family we fully understand what it feels like to not have community, need it, and find it. The founding group created OurFamilyApp.org as an adaptive virtual space for our community. Our core group of visionaries comprised of adults with queer parent(s) – both queer and straight, queer parents, future queer parents, and queer caregivers.

Click the bios on this page to learn more about some of the current leaders and founding members behind Our Family App. Not all of our core team members are represented below to protect their identity and their family’s identity.

Kaley Fry (They/them)

Kaley Fry is a second generation queerspawn and future queer parent. Raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kaley was brought to America by their two moms when they were 6 months old from Lima, Peru. Kaley has been organizing in their local communities since 2009 with an emphasis on youth empowerment, social, and racial justice. Kaley graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and completed a Non-Profit Management program at Duke University. From there they rose up to become the director of COLAGE, a national organization for kids in LGBTQIA+ families and also supported COLAGE's web development. After COLAGE turned into a volunteer-run organization, Kaley saw the gaps in service and support for members of the LGBTQIA+ family community and used their full stack development knowledge and passion for supporting LGBTQIA+ families to create Our Family App.

Kaley and their spouse, Sam who is also queerspawn, currently live in Huntersville, NC with their two dogs, two cats, and bossy tortoise.

Natalie Perry (she/her/hers)

Natalie believes in a future where queer families are equal and no longer have to hide in the closet out of fear. Born and raised in conservative Idaho, she aspires to reduce discrimination against LGBTQ+ families through the power of education and sharing her own family story. Natalie is a 2nd Gen queerspawn: when she was 12 years old her dad came out to her immediate family as gay. She is Pan-Demisexual and Greyromantic and is also an advocate for the Bi+ and Asexual (Ace)/Aromantic (Aro) communities.

Natalie has a B.A. in Spanish and Cultural Anthropology. She has been fortunate to travel the world, giving her a more global perspective on LGBTQ+ rights. After teaching for a few years she transitioned into healthcare, where she currently works as a Project Manager in Cancer Research.

Natalie is also an author, abstract artist, and public speaker. She previously represented Idaho on the Western Region Advisory Council for Family Equality. In 2018 she gave the first queerspawn talk on a TED affiliated stage in the United States. She currently participates in LGBTQ+ Families Day, is a COLAGE Ambassador and sits on The Community Center board in Boise, Idaho.
